Captain First To Drop Anchor At Superb Marley Mead Development
04 Sep 2012

The first house to sell at Linden Homes’ superb new development of Marley Mead, near Dorking, has been landed by a former merchant navy captain.

The 23 attractive three, four and five-bedroom new homes offer an ideal location on the very edge of the bustling town and are positioned perfectly to take advantage of all the beauty the Surrey Hills have to offer.

The former Master Mariner is keen to make the most of the countryside, views and footpaths that surround Marley Mead.

“I already know a bit about the town of Dorking, I like its character and the countryside around it,” he explained.

“There are some wonderful walks not to mention challenging cycling routes and has some nice National Trust properties within easy reach.’’

“As to the new house, my impressions are that the finish is very good, the design is good and the deal was rather attractive. I liked the house as soon as I looked at it. The people staffing the sales room were particularly helpful also.”

The ex-mariner is still a keen cyclist, and was speaking from his current home in a nearby Sussex town after just getting back from a ride in the rain. He joked: “Living in Britain you have to like cycling in the rain or you wouldn’t do it at all!”

Few homes these days can claim the luxury of such a location, cocooned within lush woodland, and open fields beyond. Marley Mead offers a rare opportunity to live somewhere totally unspoiled and tranquil.

Using authentic local materials, in a range of designs, offering varied accommodation and featuring diverse detailing, Linden Homes has arranged magnificent four and five-bedroom detached properties, alongside substantial three-bedroom semi-detached homes to optimise the sense of space across the development.

All properties boast generous front and rear gardens, private driveways and a superb specification and finish throughout. In addition, most will also have solar panels on the roofs for electricity generation.

Linden Homes Guildford managing director Peter Youll said: “I’d like to welcome the captain as the first buyer at Marley Mead, which is arousing a lot of interest in the area thanks to the beautiful local character of the design and the top building quality.

“These assets are part of Linden Homes’ increasingly respected reputation, which is encouraging buyers to act quickly when one of our developments becomes available as they know they don’t hang around for long!”
