Borehamwood Is A Commuters Dream For Family Life
07 Oct 2016

When David Williams set out to purchase a new home for his wife Laura and their young children, he had a thorough check list of requirements to meet. A spacious home to suit modern family life, reliable transport links and preferably outdoor greenspace for the children – luckily at Linden Homes’ Empire Court development, he has ticked all the boxes!

As a project manager in the construction industry, based in Central London, David (32) needs to be close to a train station and in a location which links to the capital with ease:

David said: “We spent around six months viewing different new build and second hand properties. We knew what we wanted so wouldn’t have budged. In the end we were drawn to new build and the attraction of Help to Buy; Empire Court immediately ticked all the boxes.

“Location was a big thing for us, we wanted to stay local but I also need to be close enough to the station to get in to Central London each day. We had been renting in Radlett, but were keen to get on to the property ladder. Empire Court has an intimate feel which is great to return to after a long day in the city.”

Just a short bus journey from Empire Court, David takes the ride each day to Elstree and Borehamwood train station which links up to London Blackfriars station in 38 minutes.

Purchasing a three bedroom townhouse, David and his family will have plenty of space across the three floors available to accommodate modern day family life. Large windows on the first floor enhance living space and extra windows in the bedroom maximise light.

With two young children, it was also important for David and his wife Laura to have a garden at their new home: “We have really hit the jackpot at Empire Court. Although we are on the cusp of London life for my work, we have a great deal of green space surrounding us which is often hard to come by with new builds! Not only does our home come complete with a garden, but we also have the added perk of a new park directly opposite.”

Like many young families, David was attracted to new build and the ease that came with the whole process: “We can’t speak more highly of the team at Linden Homes, they made the whole process so simple for us and took away any of the stresses that come with moving home with two young children in tow. We love our new home and couldn’t be happier.”

Simon Pendlebury is the sales and marketing director at Linden Homes Chiltern: “With larger homes available at the same cost as a one bedroom apartment in the capital, Empire Court is a great alternative for commuters wanting the best of both worlds and an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.”

“David and his family are a great example of how Help to Buy is helping hard-working first time buyers get on to the property ladder. Borehamwood is an ideal location to buy for growing families. With a number of local amenities and a great selection of independent and primary and secondary state schools right on the doorstep, family life is well catered for and homes are therefore selling fast.”

The development is well located; with the town centre just 0.8 miles away with a range of shop, restaurants and leisure activities at Borehamwood Shopping Park. For those travelling by car, Empire Court is well connected with easy access to the A1, M25 and M1 motorways. For commuters, Empire Court is just twelve miles from the centre of London with Elstree and Borehamwood train station a mile away and Barnet tube 2.7 miles away.

The Help to Buy equity loan means that the Government will lend you up to 20% of the cost of your brand new home, so you’ll only need a 5% cash deposit and a 75% mortgage to make up the rest. There are no loan fees on the 20% loan for the first five years of owning your home.
