Linden Homes, the housebuilder that brought the award winning development, Be:Newhall, has been given the green light to go ahead with its next phase after Harlow Council’s planning committee gave it unanimous approval.
This new phase of homes will become part of this unique collection of houses and apartments near Harlow which has just won the overall supreme Award in the Housing Design Awards: Last month it was named the Royal Institute of British Architects East Building of the Year which has put the development in the running for the coveted RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year to be announced on September 26th.
But this latest phase of homes will take this development in Harlow in a new direction. This time it will include a range of family homes in generously sized plots as well as some 2 and 3 bedroom homes. The boundary of the site follows the course of a local stream and much of it adjoins Barnsley Woods.
Using these natural features as inspiration, the architects John Thompson and Partners are planning to create a softer and less urban feel to the new phase, providing a contrast to the striking and contemporary buildings that already exist on the development. Incorporating the natural elements surrounding the site, the plan is to make landscaping a key element – so the homes here will have a green swath of ‘village green’ at its centre.
Once it is complete, it will offer a range of bespoke house types in beautifully landscaped surroundings offering a truly family friendly environment.
