A Third Of The First Oakbrook Homes Now Sold
29 Jan 2014

Oakbrook, Linden Homes’ new development at Langley in Berkshire is already proving to be extremely popular with over 30% of the new homes snapped up throughout the whole development.

Oakbrook’s appeal is multi-faceted: To start with, these award winning Linden Homes are finished to a very high standard: The bathrooms and kitchens are fully fitted; the kitchens are finished with granite worktops and all have integrated and guaranteed appliances including fridge/freezer, oven, hob, extractor fan, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

The location is excellent: There are good links to the M4 and these homes are positioned just one mile from Slough train station (from where you can catch a train and be in London Paddington in just 17 minutes.

One very important attraction is the fact that these are new homes, so they come with a ten year builder’s warranty and being new, they won’t need lots of heavy maintenance, expensive repairs or tedious DIY projects.

As Linden Homes’ sales and marketing director Simon Pendlebury explains, one very distinct advantage of buying a brand new home is the fact that it has to be, by law, extremely energy efficient:

“Current building regulations mean new homes like the ones at Oakbrook are SIX times more energy efficient than existing homes and produce over 60 per cent less CO2 emissions than older properties. And energy efficiency within the home is currently a very hot topic: The Office for National Statistics figures released in December showed that fuel, electricity and maintenance have all helped to make housing the more expensive item in the family budget – overtaking the cost of transport for the first time. Campaigners and charities have again been pointing to Britain’s ‘leaky’ housing stock and highlighting what they call the ‘woeful’ levels of insulation seen in many of the UK’s older homes. With a brand new home, these problems just aren’t an issue.”

The homes at Oakbrook are still very much in production – but that doesn’t mean you need to wait to reserve one – you can buy one off plan. Some people may regard reserving an empty plot as taking a leap of faith – but customers like Derek Hough, who have gone down this route, believe buying off plan with Linden Homes has very significant advantages:

“Linden Homes went out of their way to involve us in the whole process. Every two or three months we would be invited to sit down with them and go through the plans of our home and see how the building – and the details of the build - had progressed. We were also kept informed of the forecast completion date. It gave us a chance to really get a feel for how our new home would look.

“We have bought three brand new homes over the years and have never had this sort of service before. It can be hard to visualise a new home when all you have to go on is the glossy brochure and a model of the development. But if you are given the opportunity to discuss the build at regular intervals, as we did with Linden Homes, you know exactly what you are getting for your money – and that is very reassuring. You end up being extremely confident about your new home because the builder is fulfilling the expectations they have set with you.”
