A Promising Start To 2017
12 Jan 2017

Linden Homes South West is starting the New Year in a good position and it’s looking advantageous for homebuyers too…

Commenting on the market and reflecting on 2016, Nigel Palmer, managing director for Linden Homes South West, said:

“We finished 2016 in a good position and 2017 is looking even more promising. It’s been a year of change for the UK but there is a housing shortage and it’s certainly business as usual at Linden Homes.

“Homebuyers have been making the most of the good fixed rate mortgages available. This provides peace of mind, knowing how much the monthly repayments will be in the long term and as many of the mortgages are portable, it does provide flexibility later on. There are some great mortgage products on the market and interest rates are still historically low, so it’s considered to be a sensible time to invest in property.”

Nigel adds: “Homes are selling quickly and homebuyers know what they want; visitors have done their homework and those making enquiries have often done a lot of research online beforehand. We’ve noticed a real change in the way homes are bought – tablets and smart phones have definitely changed homebuyers’ habits – they’re checking out floorplans on the train, reading up on the Help to Buy scheme while they’re waiting for a dentist appointment, people are able to make good use of spare time.

“Homebuyers have become more decisive, they know which properties they’re interested in and are empowered with the necessary information. However, I would encourage people to visit the development sooner as there are many initiatives available, designed to help you move. We recently conducted a survey which highlighted that 80 per cent of those asked wanted to own their own home and schemes like Help to Buy and Part Exchange can help you move to a property quicker than you think.

“We were named the Best Large Housebuilder at the recent Brick Awards and we have just launched Montbray in Barnstaple and Sherford in the South Hams, which will be a new town that we are creating as part of a consortium. The company’s landbank is healthy, which will provide over 3,300 new homes, so 2017 is definitely going to be another busy year!”
