A New Lease Of Life For Suburban Village
06 Feb 2017

While the number of homes sold in London tumbles by almost 40%, surrounding suburban areas such as Reading and Wokingham are having their profiles raised as affordable choice locations for home hunters.

Nestled between Reading and Wokingham, the village of Shinfield has caught the attention of award-winning developer, Linden Homes as the next hotspot area. As part of Wokingham Borough’s major redevelopment scheme, Linden Homes is contributing to the new Shinfield Meadows development. Shinfield Meadows will offer a range of new homes, a new primary school, a food store, open space and recreation grounds.

Since launching in October, 50% of the initial phase, Woodland Edge, a stunning collection of two, three and four bedroom houses at the Linden Homes Shinfield Meadows development have already sold in the first phase.

Shinfield Meadows will offer the best of both worlds: a country village setting within easy reach of the M4, Heathrow and Reading, which will benefit from Crossrail services into London.

These new homes offer modern, spacious living accommodation, private gardens, ample parking and a 10 year NHBC warranty. A number of these new homes are also available with the Government backed Help to Buy* scheme, meaning house hunters coming from London can invest with a 5% deposit, a 75% mortgage and a 20% government loan.

Simon Pendlebury, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes Chiltern, said: “Shinfield is not only an up and coming, well connected area but it’s also affordable. Some buyers are being forced out of some parts of London due to unrealistic property prices, whereas our new development which suits countryside lovers and commuters alike – offers homes with gardens and garages for the price of a central London apartment.

“The journey from Reading Station to London Paddington is only half an hour but this is set to get even easier with the introduction of the Crossrail (Elizabeth line) at Reading in 2019. Due to the addition of this Elizabeth line, prices of property nearby the route are forecast to keep rising so with Shinfield only 5 miles from Reading, now is your chance to make that investment.”

Part Exchange is also available at Shinfield Meadows, meaning house hunters can avoid vulnerable chains as Linden Homes becomes the guaranteed buyer paying full market value for the buyer’s former property, instructing estate agents and marketing the current house so the buyer can move in when ready.
