2015 Holds Great Promise For Chelmsford
22 Dec 2014

The New Year promises to be a very fruitful one for Chelmsford. Since receiving city status in 2012, Chelmsford has been blooming. It’s become a sought after destination for commuters, shoppers and property investors and 2015 could be one of its most prosperous years yet.

In the coming months, John Lewis and Waitrose will be building its new Chelmsford stores. According to a study by Savills estate agents, a branch of the store opening up in a city can boost neighbouring house prices by up to 50% in what’s become known as ‘The Waitrose Effect’.

The combination of great new shopping facilities and efficient commuter links (Central London is just 35 minutes away by train) is quickly making Chelmsford a popular target location for property investors as well as home buyers.

Property hunters will be interested to see Linden Homes’ St John’s development in the heart of Chelmsford: St Johns, the site of the city’s old hospital, is now an ingenious blend of new and refurbished homes.

Some of the original red brick Victorian buildings have been restored and refurbished to create a range of unusual and characterful apartments. The character has also been preserved with high ceilings and sash windows so these beautiful old Victorian buildings look as they always have. There are also some cleverly designed new build homes available on site.

Karen Roake is the sales and marketing director at Linden Homes Eastern and says Chelmsford’s time has come:

“The arrival of John Lewis and the other new stores and restaurants will make Chelmsford one of the top 50 shopping destinations in the UK and the fact that it is with such easy commuting distance to London will make the city an even more desirable place to live. It’s not hard to see why property investors – as well as home buyers - are being drawn to Chelmsford.”

Early in the New Year, Linden Homes is also launching a stylish development called Beeches Crescent comprising of three, four and five bedroom semi-detached and detached houses.
