For some people, buying your own home is just a dream but one young family was determined to get on to the property ladder.
Jamie King and his fiancée Lucy Dimmick managed to buy their first home at Linden Homes’ Liskerrett Vale development in Liskeard, thanks to one of the company’s schemes designed to help people with the important mortgage deposit.
The couple have a young daughter and were renting a two bedroom property in Liskeard. Speaking about the move, Jamie said: “We’re absolutely delighted with our new home at Liskerrett Vale, it’s a split level three bedroom house and we just fell in love with the house layout.
“We managed to buy the home with just five per cent deposit, which meant we could afford a bigger home than we previously thought and it’s reassuring that we have the extra room available, as we have the space to grow.”
Jamie, 26, works for South West Highways and partner Lucy, 22, is mum to their two year old daughter, Elsie. “We really love our new home, we pay £588 per month towards our mortgage and have a gorgeous three bedroom home for our family so it’s worked really well for us. It would cost £750 per month to rent our house so we’re saving over £175 a month - we love that we’re paying off our mortgage now and not someone else’s by renting!
“It was also comforting to know that we could just move in and everything was brand new, nothing needed to be cleaned or updated when we moved in, like you often need to do in a second hand property.
“Linden Homes definitely helped us to buy our first home. We never dreamed we’d be able to buy a house with a five per cent deposit of £8,148 or that owning our home would be cheaper than renting – it’s been a good year for me and my family!”
Brian Deacon, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes said: “We’re thrilled that we’ve helped Jamie and Lucy buy their first home, it’s a fantastic milestone. We’re asking everyone who has five per cent deposit saved to challenge us to find them a mortgage – we can help you move, it’s something we’re very passionate about.”
The company has a range of initiatives to help homebuyers, including the Government’s new Help to Buy scheme, NewBuy, Part Exchange and Linden Assist - designed to help people sell their home or raise that much needed deposit.
Liskerrett Vale is a contemporary new development in Liskeard and there is a one bedroom coach house and some three bedroom homes available.
Brian added: “Home 87 is a three bedroom house with parking and carpets included, it’s priced at £149,950 but if you used the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, you would only need a five per cent deposit and a mortgage of £112,463, with the remaining 20 per cent borrowed over 25 years.”
The show home and marketing suite is open Thursdays to Mondays from 10am – 5pm off Jago Close, Liskeard, PL14 3FJ. For more information contact Deborah Jones on 0844 417 3920 or email email@example.com.
