Work under way at former Transport Research Laboratory site in Berkshire as new homes go on sale

Work to transform the former Transport Research Laboratory site in Crowthorne into a new neighbourhood is well under way, with the first homes now released for sale.

Linden Homes is building properties at the Buckler’s Park location, off Nine Mile Ride in the Berkshire village.

The regeneration project will bring a range of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three, four, and five-bedroom houses to the site, which was where, from the 1960s, highway innovations such as mini-roundabouts and cycle lanes were tested out before being rolled out onto the country’s road network.

Linden Homes are part of the development with Bovis Homes who are both part of Vistry Group. Marketing manager at Vistry Thames Valley, Alix Laflin, said: “I’m sure many house-hunters have been keeping an interested eye on this location to see when the homes would go on sale as this is a highly desirable area. And with the first homes beginning to take shape, now is the time.

“The green open spaces, neighbourhood glade and tree-lined streets make this a wonderful setting, and being near to woodland and within easy reach of a nature reserve makes this location something truly exceptional – a peaceful retreat to come home to and enjoy. We’ve designed home styles to reflect this, bringing the outdoors in with light and airy, modern living spaces.

“The first properties to go on sale are spacious three and four-bedroom family houses with bifold or French doors opening out onto the garden, while a range of one and two-bedroom places will go on sale at a later stage.”

Currently there are three and four-bedroom Bovis Homes properties for sale, with prices starting at £499,500, while four-bedroom Linden Homes houses start from £555,000.

Planning permission for the Bovis Homes and Linden Homes scheme at Buckler’s Park was given by Bracknell Forest Council in December 2022. When finished there will be 85 Bovis Homes properties and 84 Linden Homes properties.

This is the fourth residential phase of regeneration of the TRL land. The wider scheme has outline planning permission for up to 1,000 new homes, a country park and community facilities.

Show homes within this phase are due to open in October, while the first residents are due to move into their new Linden Homes property at Buckler’s Park in Winter 2023. Vistry are currently selling from their Wokingham sales centre.
