Vistry hands over first affordable homes at Great Oldbury

Vistry Group has handed over the keys to the first affordable homes at its award-winning Great Oldbury location near Stonehouse in Gloucestershire.

The first pair of two-bedroom houses at the development, which is being built under the Linden Homes brand, have been transferred to housing association Bromford and will be available for local people through low-cost rent. A further two Shared Ownership two-bedroom houses have also been handed over to Bromford.

Vistry, which is made up of Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, is building 178 new homes at the site, including 125 houses for private sale and 53 affordable properties.

The affordable housing being provided will include nine one and two-bedroom flats and 44 two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Supriya Ray, managing director of Vistry Cotswolds, said: “At Vistry Cotswolds we are a socially responsible housebuilder and we want not only to build new homes but also to create vibrant and varied new communities.

“We are very proud to be able to work in partnership with Bromford to ensure that at Great Oldbury the housing needs of the local community are being met.

“Through our longstanding relationship with Bromford and the mix of affordable rent and Shared Ownership homes on offer at Great Oldbury, local people will be given the opportunity to live in a top-quality new home while being able to stay close to their support network of family and friends.

“Great Oldbury is proving very popular with families and through the provision of a total of 53 affordable homes, which equates to a third of the homes being built at the location, we are happy to help local parents stay in the area and form an important part in the balance of this new neighbourhood.”

Vistry’s Sean Goode, site manager for Great Oldbury, was recently awarded the Pride in the Job Award Quality Award by the National House Building Council (NHBC) in recognition of his efforts at the Great Oldbury development.

Claire Richardson, sales manager at Bromford, said: “We are delighted to have received handover of the first affordable properties at Great Oldbury, and are very proud to be working alongside Vistry.

“This development will provide Gloucestershire people with high-quality and much-needed homes that they can be proud to call their own. Great Oldbury demonstrates how collaborative working can make a positive impact on local communities.

“We cannot wait to welcome homeowners into their brand-new homes, and look forward to continuing our partnership with Vistry throughout the development’s lifecycle.”

There is currently a selection of three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at Great Oldbury, with prices starting at £320,000 and £430,000 respectively.
