Three generations move to Barleyfields

There are many benefits to living near your family, which Marion and Mark Lloyd can vouch for as three generations of the Lloyds have moved to a new homes development in Pamington.

Marion works part-time in John Lewis and Mark is retired. They moved to Linden Homes’ Barleyfields development near Tewkesbury in June with their westie called Betsy, after their son and daughter-in-law suggested joining them there!

The couple had previously lived in Cheltenham, where they’d renovated an older bungalow; Brockworth; and Hatherleigh in Devon, which they’d found too remote. They were keen to buy an energy efficient new-build property nearer their children: Christopher, who lives in Pamington, and Rosie, who has just relocated from London to Cirencester.

Marion explained: “We’d decided a new property was a definite on our wish list, as we’d renovated before and wanted peace of mind that everything had been done – no broken roof tiles or an old boiler that suddenly needed replacing.

“Christopher and Emma moved to Barleyfields last summer with their baby son, Theodore. They were really impressed with the location and with the quality of the build, so suggested we look at the house next door, as they thought it would suit our needs. We were surprised they were encouraging us to live so close but were touched that they wanted us nearby.

“We were equally impressed and sold our home in January and bought a four bedroom Lewis house at the development, just a short walk away. However, it wasn’t ready for six months so we moved to Christopher and Emma’s spare bedroom with our belongings. It was very kind of them as they had Jack, who’s now six months, and Theodore, nearly two years. Plus, we have a dog and they have a dog and two cats, so it was all very cosy for a while but we couldn’t be more grateful as it enabled us to get the house we wanted.

“We were all so happy on moving day – as much as we love being near them, I don’t think any of us are ready for multigenerational living on a permanent basis!”

Marion added: “We absolutely love our new home and its location. The layout is great, there are four bedrooms – so plenty of space for family and friends to stay over and it also has a practical double driveway. The front of our property overlooks the fields and Tirle Brook; it’s close to the countryside and near our family, so we couldn’t ask for more. We love that we can spend more time with the grandchildren, borrow a cup of sugar, share meals together…it’s very special. We’re very happy with everything and it feels like it was meant to be.”

Regional sales and marketing director, Sue Scholfield commented: “We’re delighted that Mark and Marion are so settled. Barleyfields is a lovely development, perfect for families, so we can see why it’s appealed to all three generations! We hope they’re very happy in their new homes.”

There is now only one property remaining at Linden Homes’ popular Barleyfields development. Home 47, the four bedroom Mylne features an open plan kitchen and dining area with double doors leading out to the garden, a separate living room and a downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with an en-suite shower room, three additional bedrooms and a family bathroom. The detached home is priced at £399,995 and includes a £15,000 deposit contribution and flooring.
