Site manager wins coveted award within a year of taking over at Stowupland location

A site manager has won a prestigious national award within a year of taking over at a location in Stowupland.

Paul Osborne, who began his career in the construction industry as a storeman 23 years ago, became site manager at the Linden Homes development, Oak Farm Meadow, 10 months ago.

The 51-year-old has won a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) in recognition of his excellent work at the site.

The awards recognise those who achieve the highest standards in construction in the UK and Paul is one of 443 winners this year, chosen from 8,000 site managers from across the country. The successful candidates will now be considered for the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards this autumn.

Paul, who lives in Suffolk, said: “I joined Vistry in 2021 and they showed faith in me by making me site manager at Oak Farm Meadow. The fact that I have won this prestigious award is, in part, my way of saying thank you to the company for believing in my abilities and my drive to succeed.

“My style is to lead from the front by working hard and giving everything to the role. My door is always open and I actively encourage the team to help create a healthy and open communication process whereby any issues can be resolved. This system allows us to identify and solve any possible problems and to stay focused and on schedule at all times.”

Paul started his career in the construction industry as a storeman at a building site in Kent in 1999. He quickly realised he wanted to be a site manager and went to night school at college two days a week to gain management qualifications.

He has worked for a number of different construction companies in management roles and was previously at Bovis Homes, which is now also part of Vistry Group, between 2012 and 2015 as a project manager on the Clay Farm development in Cambridge.

Vistry is building 143 new homes at Oak Farm Meadow under its Linden Homes brand, including 93 houses for private sale and 50 homes provided as affordable housing for local people through rent or shared ownership. Vistry Group combines Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships.

Paul said: “It feels incredible to win this award but what means as much to me is that we have had 100 per cent five-star feedback from all of the 28 homebuyers who have so far moved onto Oak Farm Meadow. At the end of the day, we do this job to deliver wonderful new homes for our customers and to hear they are happy is very gratifying.

“Vistry is a great company to work for and I am very happy where I am. My ambition is to keep on improving and ensure that Oak Farm Meadow remains a site I am proud of and where residents enjoy living.”

Jason Colmer, sales and marketing director for Vistry Eastern, said: “Paul has done an amazing job after taking over the reins at Oak Farm Meadow less than a year ago. He has hit the ground running and has led by example to help create a fabulous atmosphere on the development.

“Everyone on the team on site has responded to his infectious enthusiasm and total dedication to the job. Paul thoroughly deserves this award and we look forward to him achieving further success with Vistry in the future.”

There is currently a selection of three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at Oak Farm Meadow, with prices starting at £314,995 and £422,995 respectively.
