Oldham Housing Gets A Boost With Start Of St Augustine's Development
17 Mar 2016

Leading housing and regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships, which markets its homes under the award winning Linden Homes banner has held a ground breaking ceremony to mark the beginning of its highly anticipated St Augustine’s development in Oldham.

The official event, which took place on Wednesday 16th March at the former school site, was attended by representatives from Galliford Try Partnerships and Linden Homes accompanied by Leader of Oldham Council, Cllr Jean Stretton. Attendees conducted a ceremonial breaking of the ground before taking a tour of the 1.8 hectare site which when complete will provide 54 new homes in the popular part of Greater Manchester.

The redevelopment, which is welcomed by Oldham Council will see a mixture of three and four bedroom detached and semi-detached homes built for open market sale under the Linden Homes brand.

Available to reserve from Summer this year, these new homes are already proving popular amongst local residents. Since obtaining planning approval earlier this year, Linden Homes has received over 120 expressions of interest from parties keen to quickly reserve the properties.

Brendan Blythe, regional director for Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “Breaking the ground at St Augustine’s takes us one step closer to our ultimate goal, delivering quality homes for local professionals or growing families in this popular area of Greater Manchester. Since we acquired the site from Oldham Council we have had lots of interest and we are very optimistic about the success of this site, our first in Oldham.”

Cllr Jean Stretton, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “As soon as St Augustine’s was demolished we started looking for a development partner that wanted to work with us and create a neighbourhood where people want to live.

“So we are delighted to have Galliford Try Partnerships and Linden Homes on board as their plans for this site will not only enhance the area but create much-needed family homes.

“The firm is also committed to supporting our Get Oldham Working initiative by providing jobs, work experience, training and other community benefits targeted at people living in the local area, so they will also be helping the local economy to grow.”
