Housing and regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships, which markets its homes under the Linden Homes banner, has been granted planning approval to build 54 high quality new homes on the former St Augustine’s School site in Oldham.
The redevelopment will see a mixture of three and four bedroom detached and semi-detached homes built for sale under the Linden Homes brand. All of the new homes will feature off road parking.
The vacant 1.8 hectare site is located at the junction of Grange Avenue and Chamber Road, a popular part of Greater Manchester. The project was approved at the Oldham Council strategic planning committee meeting on Wednesday 10th February.
Construction on the brownfield site will begin this month and all of the new homes will be available for open market sale.
As part of its commitment to Oldham council, Galliford Try Partnerships will aim to create 54 opportunities in various capacities such as work experience, apprenticeships and employment – supporting the council’s Get Oldham Working campaign.
Darren Leary, development director of Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “We’re delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted by Oldham Council for the scheme and we look forward to progressing work on the site imminently.”
Councillor Dave Hibbert, Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Transport, said: “The granting of this planning application is good news as this plot of land has just been an empty space since St Augustine’s was demolished.
“Once finished these new family homes will help regenerate the area and will be built to the highest specification and green standards – I’m sure they will have a positive impact on the immediate and wider community.
“This building project also supports our Get Oldham Working campaign, while also creating training opportunities and enhancing the local supply chain, which will help boost the borough.”
