New Year, New Home - The Help To Buy Way
19 Jan 2016

Everyone knows that the New Year is a time of change… and a time for looking to the future.

Obviously the turn of the New Year triggers thoughts of change… and this year is unlikely to be different.

The Government led Help To Buy scheme may well be fuelling some of the interest. It has now helped more than 130,000 people buy their own home. And it’s available at Linden Homes’ Hawthorn Mews development in Bedhampton.

Hawthorn Mews is a contemporary mix of one and two bedroom apartments and three, four and five bedroom houses.

Bedhampton lies at the northern end of Langstone Harbour in the Borough of Havant, and has easy access to the A3, the A27 and the M27. The area also has its own mainline train station with regular direct services into London and Portsmouth. This is a rare opportunity to buy a new home in this established residential area.

Adam Champion, from The New Homes Group says the Help to Buy scheme could open up unexpected doors at Hawthorn Mews:

“Take the example of a four bedroom house priced at around £400,000: You would need a 5% deposit which would be £20,000; but the Government’s equity loan (20%) would be worth about £80,000. With that kind of financial help, you might find you can afford a lot more home for your money.”

Linden Homes’ customer Fatma Aytemur started out on her property search looking for a one bedroom apartment. The combination of moving away from London and using the Help to Buy scheme meant that she did get a lot more for her money. She explained: “I assumed I’d be buying an apartment, but had a look around the show home while I was there. It was a beautiful four-bedroom house. After seeing it and discussing the finances with the sales executives on site, everything changed. Instead of the one bedroom apartment I thought I could afford, I ended up buying a lovely spacious five bedroom house. You get so much more for your money: So much more space.

“The Help to Buy scheme was very simple to use and I never dreamed I could end up with a home like this! Linden Homes helped to put me through to the right people and, with the assistance of the mortgage advisers, I arranged the whole thing.”
