New Apartments In Battersea Link Into London's Bicycling Boom
27 Aug 2015

Househunters often judge a property by its road and rail connections. But with London experiencing a boom in bicycles – and a string of Tube strikes – safe cycling routes are now increasingly on the check list too.

According to figures from Transport for London, bicycle use on the capital’s main roads grew by 10 per cent last year and was forecast to have grown again by 12 per cent by the end of March this year.

The renaissance of cycling has been further encouraged by developments such as the new Cycle Superhighways providing a safe route for commuters who would rather jump in the saddle than suffer the jams on the road or the crush of the Underground.

One of these new two-wheel arteries is the 4.6-mile CS8 route from Wandsworth to Westminster, which residents at award-winning Linden Homes’ The Metropolitan, in Battersea, can conveniently link into at nearby Battersea Park Road.

The collection of high quality apartments has secure cycle storage for commuters who can pedal to London Victoria in just 17 minutes, Clapham Junction in eight, Kings Road in seven and Battersea Park in just two.

Residents will also benefit from construction of the North-South Cycle Superhighway route. It is set to open after February 2016, running from Elephant and Castle to Stonecutter Street, near Holborn Viaduct, with a later extension to King's Cross.

The Metropolitan is a unique range of studios and apartments within a 1911 brick-built former police station building on Battersea Bridge Road. Connected via a glass atrium is a modern collection of homes overlooking a large, south-facing, landscaped courtyard behind.

Dylan May, land, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes South East, said: “London is a fantastic city but its transport system can sometimes be an ordeal to use. The boom in cycling shows how keen people are to escape the crush, and how easy it’s becoming.

“Residents at The Metropolitan are perfectly placed to take advantage of the radical improvements to London’s cycling infrastructure. It’s another aspect of the high quality lifestyle on offer that has made these homes such a popular choice. We’re urging people to register with us now to avoid missing out.”

As a cycling-friendly incentive, Linden Homes is also offering customers who reserve by the end of September 2015 the promise of a brand new Brompton bicycle1.

The Metropolitan’s popularity means the one-bedroom apartments have already sold out. But there is still a choice of two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as the last remaining duplex apartment.

The homes have picked up on the regeneration buzz around Battersea generated by work on the iconic Battersea Power Station and the surrounding Nine Elms and Vauxhall areas. For getting further afield, residents are 20 minutes' walk to Clapham Junction for train links to destinations across the UK.

A video entry system offers the reassurance of security and each property also comes with a 10-year NHBC warranty for peace of mind, as well as a two-year customer care warranty.
