Mr and Mrs Shord Tick Off Their Checklist With A Move To Graylingwell Park
22 Aug 2013

When Richard and Susan Shord decided it was time to move on after many years of village life in West Chiltington, they chose Chichester, with its bustling town centre, cultural activities and plentiful amenities, as an ideal location for their new home.

Their next challenge was to find the perfect house. The couple, a former company director and a secondary school teacher, were armed with a specific checklist and soon found that Graylingwell Park, set within 85 acres of stunning parkland and just a mile from the City centre ticked all their boxes.

Susan says: “Although we were downsizing from a larger property with very large gardens, we still wanted a three-bedroom house as we often have friends and family to stay. We also wanted a good-sized garden, but something more manageable than our previous plot.”

Richard continues: “We were also looking find a home which would reduce our carbon footprint and in turn, lower our energy bills. With the range of energy conscious homes and initiatives at Graylingwell Park, we knew we’d found the perfect place to buy.”

Mr and Mrs Shord purchased a three-bedroom townhouse after Linden provided a range of incentives to buy. This included Linden’s popular ‘Enhance’ scheme, which offers purchasers the chance to tailor their new home ready for the day they move in. Susan says: “Meeting with Linden’s style consultants meant we had many fixtures and fittings in place as we stepped through the door on moving day. The sales team were also a great help. We visited on several occasions and they were very patient, showing us around various housetypes until we decided on The Gaskell. There’s a fantastic choice of homes available, all with lots of character.”

Richard and Susan also wanted to be part of a diverse community, Richard explains: “With such a vast range of homes available, there’s such a wide range of people living here – from young first time buyers, growing families to retirees like us.

Susan continues: “We’ve already attended the Graylingwell Park Summer Garden Party and Children’s Day and a number of barbecues hosted by Chichester Community Development Trust and the Residents’ Association.  It’s a very good, relaxed way to meet our new neighbours.”

Richard and Susan are very pleased with Graylingwell Park’s location. Susan comments, “It is a short stroll to the theatre and the city centre, and when it rains we can take the bus from the heart of the development to the Cathedral, or straight on to the train station – it’s a very quick ten minute journey.”
