Location, location, location: moving for the Exeter lifestyle

There’s the old saying when it comes to moving house: location, location, location, but anyone who moves will confirm it’s still the most important aspect to consider.

The Poxon family bought their new house at Linden Homes’ Sandrock development in Exeter and moved for the location, crediting their active lifestyle to the beautiful places and host of amenities on their doorstep.

John is head of deployment for a clean tech business and Libby is a teaching assistant. The couple have a son – Wesley – who’s 11, and a daughter – Scarlett – aged nine.

John commented: “We’ve been in our home for almost a year now and we absolutely love it. We were previously living in Cullompton in a three bedroom detached property and the Exeter lifestyle really appealed to us. I was an Exeter university student so I knew how much the city and the surrounding areas had to offer. There’s the River Exe, Woodbury Common, Exeter Quay, Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton beaches, Darts Farm, the National Trust’s Killerton House and Haldon Forest to explore – to name a few!

“We’re quite an active family so we love our membership at Woodbury Park where we swim, go to the gym and enjoy classes. We like watching the Exeter Chiefs and we enjoy exploring the area on our bikes. There’s a cycle route next to the development so it’s perfect for the children and for commuting. My son also loves photographing aeroplanes at the airport.

“We’d bought a new property before, so appreciate everything new build offers and we were over the moon when we found Sandrock quickly. We’re delighted with our home; it’s in a great location, tucked away in the middle of the development.”

John added: “Our Ripley home suits us perfectly. Set over three floors, there’s an open plan kitchen and dining area, living room, four bedrooms, study, and bathrooms. Having plenty of space will be useful as the children grow up, as the layout provides a lot of flexibility.

“The development also benefits from a district heating network, which is very efficient. In terms of our energy usage, there’s been a noticeable difference since we moved and we’ve been impressed how well insulated our home is – it really keeps the warmth in.

“The whole team has been excellent, especially Amber the sales consultant, we’d definitely recommend Sandrock and Linden Homes – it’s been a brilliant experience.”

Sales and marketing director, Emma Smith, said: “We’re pleased the Poxons are happy in their new home. The area really does have so much to offer and it’s wonderful to see them all so settled.

“Homebuyers are prioritising lifestyle and it’s no surprise that Sandrock’s proved so desirable, with many beautiful beaches close by. Whether you’re a professional who wants to live near the water, but with a short commute to work; you’re looking for a family home where you can go for a paddle in the sea after school; or you’re retiring and want to live in a thriving community with some picturesque country walks nearby, the development boasts a fantastic collection of quality homes to suit a range of needs and budgets.”

Sandrock features 62 characterful properties, surrounded by mature hedgerows and trees; a new cycle path runs next to the site and joins the local Exe Estuary trail. The development is just a short walk to Pinhoe train station and provides easy access to the M5, A30 and Exeter airport.

There are currently four bedroom houses available from £360,000. Built to a high specification, with Juliet balconies and bay windows, the properties are full of character and are finished in rough cast render and rustic country brick.
