Local Food Bank Receives Support From Linden Homes
08 Sep 2020

The Food Standards Agency has recently reported that one in 10 people had accessed a food bank in June. With need for food banks anticipated to continue to increase due to repercussions of the pandemic, Linden Homes has made a £500 donation to the local Braintree Area Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, to help with this expected need.

The Braintree Area Foodbank has been supporting the Braintree and surrounding area since 2012 and has seen an increase in need due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is run entirely by volunteers from the local community and relies on community support to ensure they can continue to help stop people going hungry.

Jason Colmer, Sales and Marketing Director for Vistry Eastern said: “We are always looking at ways we can provide support to our local communities. At a time like this we felt supporting the Braintree Area Foodbank was an effective and direct way to make a difference to some of the families locally who may be struggling due to implications from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We hope the donation will make a positive difference to the increasing numbers of people who need the support and will provide some relief through what is a difficult time for many.”

Lee Ranson, Project Manager at Braintree Area Foodbank said: “We, like many other food banks, have seen an increase in need over the pandemic and as we move into the later part of the year we anticipate an ongoing need for support. For many families and individuals, it’s been an extremely challenging time and we’ve provided a lifeline to many.

“The entire team here is made up of volunteers and we rely on donations from the community whether it’s food for our clients, or monetary donations for our core costs. So, we’re extremely grateful to Linden Homes for their donation which will enable us to continue to provide support and supply to the local community.”

Linden Homes is currently developing a collection of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes in the village of Great Yeldham at the Strawberry Fields development.
