Richard (44) and Debbie Martin (45) had been looking for a project when they were searching for their next home, having decided to turn their backs on new build developments. However, when they saw the homes at Linden Homes’ Kilnhurst Gardens in Verwood they were convinced to try new build again and are delighted that they did.
Richard Martin, Director of his own civil engineering company, explains: “We were living in Verwood and bought at a new build development in Poole. We had such an awful experience that we decided not only to sell and not go for new build again but go to the other extreme and take on a “project” instead to do a house up ourselves. We really felt that strongly. We also just wanted to move back to Verwood with our three children.
“We had been looking for about six months and probably viewed about half a dozen properties before we viewed the show home at Kilnhurst Gardens. Even though we’d decided against new build at that point, we knew Linden Homes had a good reputation as a house builder. We were so impressed with the finish and quality of what we saw that it changed our minds and we went for it.”
Debbie Martin, who is a Director, with her husband at their civil engineering company continues the story: “We really didn’t expect to be convinced to move to another new build home, but we’re glad we did. The location was the main factor for us, we wanted to be back in Verwood. We were able to take advantage of Help to Buy to make our “sideways” move possible. Although we had to spend more to buy this property than we would if we had gone for a doer-upper, we haven’t had to do a thing to it since we moved in and the one or two snags we had were dealt with very quickly by Linden Homes without any fuss.
“The whole experience has been so different with Linden Homes and actually we’re both quite relieved we aren’t having to spend our time at weekends on DIY and decorating. Instead we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings here with our three children.”
Richard adds: “Buying the show home came with its own advantages like having fitted wardrobes already installed, which meant there was even less for us to worry about when we moved in. The double garage had been used as the sales office, so we kept it as a home office for us which was an added bonus.
“We both love the area. We’re surrounded by woodland which is great for dog walking and we love being back in Verwood. To think we might have been up to our eyeballs in the cost and hassle of doing up a house ourselves! Instead, thanks to the quality and service we experienced with Linden Homes, as well as the great location, we’re happy and where we want to be, in our beautiful detached brand new home.”
