Company's Largest Ever Standalone Housing Scheme.

Top five housebuilder Linden Homes is one of three Galliford Try Group companies which have been selected as preferred developer by Greater London Authority (GLA) to construct the Silvertown Way development in Canning Town, East London.

The prestigious development will be delivered through an existing joint venture vehicle with Thames Valley Housing Association, which will create over 1,100 mixed tenure homes across 11 individual blocks designed by awarding-winning architects John Thompson & Partners, with an approximate gross development value of £360 million, making it the largest standalone housing scheme that the company has undertaken.

Linden Homes in addition to two other Galliford Try Group companies: Galliford Try Partnerships and Galliford Try Infrastructure will deliver the development which includes homes for sale, rent and shared ownership, a hotel, restaurant, commercial space and in turn, employment.

Linden Homes Group Managing Director, Andrew Richards echoed the comments of Galliford Try Chief Executive, Greg Fitzgerald saying: “We are delighted to have been selected for this exemplar project which extends our work with the GLA. This scheme is testament to the combined resources of the group and its proven expertise in regeneration and affordable housing projects. It underlines our continued investment in delivering much needed homes to the capital and working in long-term collaboration with our partners in the sector.

This selection extends Linden Homes’ growing portfolio in London where it currently has 2,000 houses and apartments under construction and follows on from its recent partnership with the Mayor of London, to deliver the first Urban Community Land Trust (CLT), regeneration project of the St Clement’s Hospital site, a redevelopment of over 250 homes is being brought forward on land owned by the GLA, working with the East London CLT and is due to launch in early 2015. Additionally Linden Homes has recently launched a collection of 86 high quality new residential apartments in a landmark building on the corner of Blackfriars Bridge Road.

Andrew Richards continued: “Linden Homes’ strength is creating high quality new homes, in individually designed developments, while meeting the needs of the local area and enhancing existing neighbourhoods. We are proud to be known as a housebuilder which helps create communities with a lasting legacy in the area.”

Geeta Nanda, CEO of Thames Valley Housing commented, “This is the fourth joint enterprise that we have secured through our development vehicle with Galliford Try and it will be a very significant project for both companies. Large regeneration schemes of this nature give us the chance to deliver a complete mix of housing and, when finished, will offer a community where private rental will sit beside housing for sale and affordable. It is particularly gratifying to be working alongside Galliford Try on major schemes like this one in Canning Town as it provides Thames Valley with the ability to bring forward the breadth of housing that the Capital so desperately needs and this is what we do well.”

Linden Homes is an award-winning housebuilder recognised for its many efforts to build more energy efficient homes, deliver sustainable developments and commitment to cut carbon and reduce waste to landfill, ensuring it leaves a positive impact in the regeneration of this local area.
