Top-ten UK housebuilder, Linden Homes has completed seven land acquisitions in recent months which, subject to planning consents, will allow the delivery of over 1000 new homes across the South and East of England.
The acquisitions support Linden Homes’ strategy to maintain a relatively short-term 3.5-year land bank that will allow annual completions to grow to in excess of 4,000 per annum by 2020, up from 3,250 in the full year to June 2017.
Tom Nicholson, Divisional Chairman for Linden Homes said: “These acquisitions are good examples of our ongoing strategy to secure sites in prime locations that can be brought forward for development relatively quickly. This supports our 2020 goal to both grow volumes in new and existing geographies while at the same time improving operating margins to between 19 and 20 percent.
“The land market continues to offer good opportunities to acquire sites located in popular areas with accessible travel links and high standard educational establishments that fit with our target first-time, and family, buyers. We continue to seek similar sites to support our growth while allowing us to create high quality communities, and deliver much needed homes, including affordable stock.”
The seven deals include Hanstead Park site in Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire which will see the delivery of 129 homes; Stotfold in central Bedfordshire with an application due to be submitted for 158 units with works planned for early 2019. Walberton, West Sussex and Faygate, Horsham combined will deliver in excess of 200 units and finally at Kirby Cross in Essex, Caldecote and Great Yeldham, totalling 440 homes.
