Home Reach Made Ownership A Reality For First Time Buyers

Location was key for James Budd (28) and partner Calvyn Gillibrand (28) when they were hoping to buy their first home together. Not only for Calvyn to be able to commute to work as he does not drive, but also for them both to enjoy walking Stanley, their dog in their free time together. Linden Homes’ Mulberry Fields hit the spot and James and Calvyn were delighted to be able to purchase their first home at the development in North Bersted.

James, a care coordinator, shares: “I drive to work about ten minutes away but Calvyn takes the bus into work in Bognor Regis so it was great to know that there was a bus stop right outside. We had been looking for a while, focussing mainly on the right location rather than number of viewings so when we found out about Mulberry Fields we knew it was the ideal spot for us.”

Neither James nor Calvyn had a property to sell however they were able to take advantage of Home Reach, the new scheme that’s helping hundreds of people afford the space they need. James and Calvyn also bought their two-bedroom semi-detached home off-plan so were able to have fun choosing some of the finishing touches like kitchen and bathroom tiles.

Calvyn, who works in retail, continues: “We both grew up locally so wanted to find somewhere in the area. I need to be close to my parents as well and as I don’t drive, it was really important for me to be able to either walk or take the bus easily. We did look at another new build development before Linden Homes launched Mulberry Fields. However, luckily that didn’t work out as we then we found out about this development and were in a position to jump at the chance of securing one of the two bedroom homes using Heylo. It’s a beautiful location and we love taking Stanley for a walk and exploring the surrounding countryside.”

James adds: “We’re really glad we found Mulberry Fields especially as we so nearly ended up somewhere else which wouldn’t have been nearly as ideal as with Linden Homes we could use Home Reach. Even if there were one or two snags, which you always get buying a house, Linden Homes dealt with it brilliantly and just got everything sorted really quickly.”

The couple are now settled into their new home and enjoying the area. James concludes: “We love living here and hope this will be our forever home but if we had to do it again, we’d happily buy through Linden Homes. Linden Homes certainly seem to know how to pick a great location and the house is perfect for us with two bedrooms plus everything is brand new and energy efficient saving us time and money. Mulberry Fields definitely ticked all of our boxes.”
