Graylingwell Park Proves It Really Can Be Affordable To Buy In Chichester

Linden Homes, Affinity Sutton and the Homes and Communities Agency – the partnership behind the UK’s largest carbon neutral development, Graylingwell Park – is today responding to research from property listing site, Adzuna[i],[ii] that claims Chichester is the least affordable place in the UK for locals to buy a home.

Adzuna undertook its research by calculating the mortgage a couple could afford, based on earning average salaries (£25,801), with a 25% deposit and borrowing 2.75 times their joint salary. It then worked out that just 11% of the homes listed for sale in Chichester were available within this price bracket.

Natalie Flint, sales director at Linden Homes, comments: “With the average house price in Chichester over £390,000 this is not surprising news. However, there’s a range of affordable options to help local people get on the property ladder here.”

Linden Homes is offering Help to Buy on a selection of properties within the latest collection of homes, Nightingales at Graylingwell Park.  This government initiative, announced as part of the 2013 budget, enables purchasers to buy a new home for just 80% of the price, with just a 5% deposit. The remaining 20% is a loan from the government which is interest free for the first five years.
