The wait is over – the show home is open for visitors to award-winning Linden Homes’ The Pitchings collection in the sought-after village of Steventon, Oxfordshire.
The four-bedroom family house, in the Marcham style, has been stylishly dressed to reflect the family-friendly quality of the surroundings. It’s one of 19 two, three, four and five-bedroom properties designed to suit a range of buyers.
The Marcham is one of only four homes now remaining at the development, where 15 have already been snapped up off plan by eager househunters.
Show home designer Caroline O’Donovan, from Roomservice Designs, said: “When we dressed the house we had in mind the story of a particular family. That led the design, so the property felt stylish, clean and striking but with a relaxed, lived-in atmosphere.
“We used sage greens with a neutral base palette to help translate contemporary living in a small rural location. The emphasis is on family living, so the study, for instance, is somewhere all the family might use, and one of the bedrooms is prepared as a guest room for the grandparents to stay.
“The essence of the design is to create a smart and contemporary interior, to appeal to a professional market with a family focus, which also draws on the village and community lifestyle of Steventon.”
Outside, bay windows flank the front door, drawing light into the airy dining room and study leading off either side of the welcoming entrance hall with its wide staircase.
A fully-fitted kitchen joins a breakfast room with French windows leading out to the turfed garden which is also accessible by another set of French windows from the spacious living room, also with a bay window. A utility room and WC complete the downstairs.
Upstairs are four bedrooms served by a family bathroom, plus en suites for the master bedroom – which also has a dressing room – and the second bedroom.
Best known for its traditional village green and ancient paved Causeway, Steventon is a well-established community offering a range of facilities for everyday living including a primary school, shops, several popular pubs and restaurants, a village hall and recreation ground, and an award-winning bakery.
The Pitchings is approximately one mile from the centre of the village of Steventon, located between the historic market towns of Abingdon and Wantage. Local employment areas include Milton Park and Harwell Science and Innovation Campus.
It is also perfectly placed for travelling by road via the A34, M4 and M40, and by rail from Didcot Station. From here excellent rail services link to Reading and London, with the journey time to London Paddington taking approximately 45 minutes.
The Pitchings inhabits a beautiful landscape dotted with delightful villages and country pubs. There are wonderful walks including the Ridgeway National Trail, the Vale of the White Horse or the downs at Lambourn.
Steve Garton, Linden Homes Thames Valley’s sales and marketing director, added: “The Pitchings is enviably located to combine the charm of semi-rural living with the convenience of modern connections.
“The houses feature designer kitchens, beautiful high quality fixtures and fittings and money-saving energy efficiency. Combine that with a highly sought-after village location, and you have a set of homes which won’t stay on the market long.”
