Corio: An Oasis Of Calm And Community In A Vibrant Capital City
23 Jan 2017

Linden Homes is gearing up to launch the new phase of homes at the popular Corio development in Bermondsey on 2nd February.

The collection of 10 homes will include one, two and three bedroom apartments in this dynamic part of London and Linden Homes is encouraging buyers to register their interest to come and discuss their personal requirements to help find their perfect home.

Mentioned for the first time in the Domesday Book of 1086, Bermondsey was originally merely a high street that linked the Thames to Bermondsey Abbey. The village then developed around the Abbey. To this day Bermondsey has kept its strong sense of identity and community - and it’s kept and maintained many of its historical features and buildings, making it a fascinating place to live.

The apartments at Corio itself are built on the site of the old Grange tannery on Grange Walk: Leather working was one of the most important industries in Bermondsey in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Grange tannery was run by a company called Barrow, Hepburn and Gale. The firm exists to this day manufacturing, amongst other things, the famous red leather despatch boxes used by the Queen and her ministers.

On that site today, Linden Homes’ Corio offers a selection of beautifully designed apartments in an intelligently designed, contemporary building. There is an exclusive, private courtyard garden for Corio residents and a dedicated twenty-four hour concierge service.

Claire Gibbins is the Sales and Marketing Director for Linden Homes South East: “Corio is genuinely an oasis of calm in a lively capital city, yet it is within easy reach of the heart of London. London Bridge station is just over half a mile away with Elephant and Castle under a mile away. There is a good local bus service and, for an additional cost there is access to private, underground parking.

“To make it even easier to get about, Linden Homes offers a range of Go Green travel incentives when you buy a home at Corio, including a three year Oyster Card; a two year Zipcar membership and £500 towards a new bike”.

If you’re thinking it sounds like the ideal place to live - but may be beyond your budget, then think again. Selected apartments (under £600,000) at Corio qualify for the London Help to Buy scheme. Under the scheme you need to provide a 5% deposit. With a 40% Government equity loan (which is interest-free for five years), you only need to organise a 55% mortgage.

Linden Homes’ sales executives would be delighted to discuss the options with you. You can visit the sales and marketing suite at Corio to have a chat and see one of the show homes. The suite is open every day from 10am to 5pm.
