Community Consultation Event In Hayle
16 Dec 2013

Local residents have taken part in an initial public consultation event at Penpol School, where Linden Homes is exhibiting early plans to redevelop the land south of St George’s Road and west of Barview Lane in Hayle.

The event is the first of two that Linden Homes has planned, with residents to be given a second opportunity to view and comment on the proposals in January. The event follows individual meetings that have already been held with immediate neighbours and councillors, as well as meetings with council officers and third party groups.

A spokesman for Linden Homes said: “Public consultation is very important to us. We always look to meet and engage with the community to understand their views and incorporate their comments prior to submitting a planning application. We recognise the sensitivities surrounding this scheme which is why we’ve arranged a second event for January, ensuring residents can see how we will take comments from this event on board.”

At Monday’s event, residents and stakeholders were invited to view and comment on the draft plans, with representatives from Linden Homes and its development team on hand to answer questions and discuss the proposals.

The spokesman continued: “We had a good turnout and it was a great opportunity for us to meet and understand the views of residents. I want to thank all those who took the time to attend our event and I hope that it proved useful to them. We have worked hard on the development of these proposals with council officers and local representatives, and we will now be reviewing all the feedback we received and will look to incorporate this into our evolving plans, where possible and appropriate.”

He added: “Linden Homes supports Cornwall Council’s view of the importance of an open and comprehensive approach to the promotion of a development, and Cornwall has a need for new housing. Alongside delivering the new homes, community facilities, and an opportunity for the Penpol school to expand, the scheme would also deliver significant funding to Cornwall Council through the Government’s New Homes Bonus Scheme, and would bring with it wider economic benefits to the area, such as new jobs and increased support for local businesses.”
