NOT every Twenty-something is lucky enough to have a brand new home as a birthday present – but Linden Homes North certainly got the party started for first time buyer Carly Ward!
Staff nurse Carly celebrated her 23rd birthday by completing on her brand new three-bedroom home in South Milford – and is now settling in at the Southfields Park development with her partner Dan Linfoot.
The couple used the popular Help to Buy scheme to snap up the spacious Marsden housetype, which enabled them to move from Dan’s parents’ home in Wetherby into a place of their own.
Carly, who works at Harrogate Hospital, said: “I was made aware of the development by a work colleague, who also lives in South Milford. The location is ideal for us as it's just a few minutes away from the nearest motorway and is within a short and equal distance to York, Leeds and Harrogate. And having a railway station within walking distance makes transport easy if we decide we don’t want to use our car.
“The development is also surrounded by beautiful scenery and countryside with fantastic cycling routes – so offers the best of both worlds.”
She added: “What attracted us most was the amount of space between homes, the development doesn't have that 'crammed in’ feel you get with a lot of new build site.
“It feels spacious to be surrounded by grassy areas and is also nice to see a variety of house designs, varying in size and colour of brick and roof tiles.”
The couple also benefit from living close to family around South Yorkshire.
Carly said: “We used the Help To Buy scheme which was very easy to apply for and we felt well supported throughout by the great sales team. Without that scheme we wouldn't have had this opportunity to buy our dream house.
“The completion date we had was my birthday. What better present can you ask for? The day we moved in our families joined us to celebrate.
“We have settled in really well now and love it here. Linden Homes made our first house buying experience a brilliant one!”

Help to Buy – The government will lend customers up to 20 per cent of the value of their property through an equity loan, which can be repaid at any time or on the sale of the home.
The Help to Buy (1) scheme is available on new build homes only, worth up to £600,000. A Help to Buy 2 scheme is in place for second hand homes. Customers need only a minimum five per cent deposit and don’t have to be a first time buyer to be eligible. Buyers only need to secure up to a 75 per cent mortgage from a bank or building society.
Southfields Park currently has a wide range of two, three and four-bedroom homes available. Reservations are now being taken on homes ready from June 2014 up to January 2015 completions.
