Buyers Get Busy At Ashlar Court's New Apartments In Hammersmith
18 Mar 2014

Within just a few months buyers have snapped up two thirds of the luxury properties at Linden Homes’ lovingly refurbished Ashlar Court development in Hammersmith.

Since its much-anticipated launch in October, 45 apartments have been reserved by people drawn to their superb location and stunning contemporary interiors, set off beautifully by the Grade II listed building’s preserved 1930s character.

The most expensive bought so far was a £1,150,000 apartment – and as winter fades, the days grow longer and the spring househunting season gets underway, the rate of interest is likely to accelerate.

The gentle yet imaginative refurbishment has preserved Art Deco highlights and original features designed by the influential architect firm of Burnet, Tait and Lorne – which helped lead the way in 20th century British Modern building style.

Combined with fashionable interiors, the result is a stunning collection of sophisticated and spacious one, two and three-bedroom homes.

Tall windows flood rooms with light and French windows frame city views. Some properties open onto balconies, terraces or private rooftop gardens, which overlook the stunning, landscaped communal gardens.

Matthew Watts (43) recently bought a three-bedroom duplex apartment there. It’s a quiet haven from working in Mayfair where he runs his own project and facilities management consultancy during the week. At the weekends he’s back with family in Henley-on-Thames.

“I had had my eye on this development for a while,” said Mathew. “It was important to be able to just lock up and go. I think the concierge will be a very nice added touch.

“I like the idea of the Art Deco features and it’s pretty modern inside. It’s got a luxury hotel feel; that was an added bonus.

“I like the area too. It’s obviously cheaper than Chiswick but there’s a lot of work going on in Hammersmith at the moment so I think it’s definitely a good investment area.”

Nearby is Stamford Brook Station, within Zone 2, so central London is a 20-minute trip on the District Line. By car the A4, A40 and M4 are all within easy reach, with journeys to Heathrow around 35 minutes.

Inside, decorative bronze lighting and iconic clocks have been preserved along with the stone staircases and their classically styled balustrades. Some of the listed features being retained include, spectacular travertine and bronze fireplaces, walnut veneer panelling and woodblock floors.

A concierge will oversee the development giving that extra level of security. In the grounds outside are beautifully landscaped private gardens featuring the original fountain restored as a stunning centrepiece.

Many of the homes benefit from secure underground parking and all come with the peace of mind of a 10-year NHBC warranty and two-year Linden Homes customer care warranty as standard.

Linden Homes South East managing director Steve Bangs said: “There is a real variety of apartments to choose from at Ashlar Court but what they all have in common is the same level of luxury, classic character and exclusivity.

“When you mix such a high quality offering, with a peaceful location boasting enviable transport links and exciting surroundings, the result is the fast-selling phenomenon we’ve seen at Ashlar Court. We’re advising people not to delay – or risk missing out.”
