21 Nov 2013

WITH Hull being named the UK's next City of Culture – one of the city’s leading businesses is joining in the celebrations.

Linden Homes – which has recently won a top industry award of its own – has its North region head office in Hessle.

Recently crowned UK Large Housebuilder of the Year at the prestigious industry Housebuilder Awards, Linden Homes is delighted to share in even more great news for the city of Hull.

Managing director Ian Hessay said: “For those of us who live and work in Hull, and those customers who have bought our homes in the area, we already know this is a fantastic city.

“Today’s announcement of Hull being named the UK’s next City of Culture supports that view, and brings us closer together as a city.

“From an economic point of view, we hope that the announcement brings a new found interest in the city and encourages more business and commercial opportunities – as well of course, celebrating our cultural offerings.”

Hull beat of competition from Leicester, Dundee and Swansea Bay to the right to hold the title in 2017.

Hull, known for being the home of poet Philip Larkin, the Ferens gallery and the Hull Truck Theatre, will follow the 2013 City of Culture, Londonderry.

The UK government chooses a new destination every four years, with the aim of helping tourism and the economy.
