What? Launch of a construction skills initiative.
When? Tuesday 24th February, 2015 at 12 noon.
Where? The Isos Weavers Court Extra Care facility off Weavers Way in Alnwick (NE66 1BX).
Why? An initiative to showcase the career opportunities available in the construction sector – known as Open Doors – and help bridge the skills gap in the fast expanding industry.
The Open Doors weekend takes place on 6th and 7th March, when leading construction groups all over the country will open some of their most interesting sites for 16 – 24-year-olds to come and take a look and ask questions of those who work there.
The aim is to attract bright young minds into a rapidly expanding industry and help bridge the skills gap which has developed.
Galliford Try Partnerships North will be opening the site at Weavers Court – where it is building a £5 million, 58 bedroomed Extra Care facility on behalf of Isos Housing – and at The Sycamores in Birtley – where, as part of the £350 million Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, it is developing 192 three and four bedroomed family homes.
