LOCAL MP Alan Duncan has labelled Linden Homes’ Orchid development at Oakham Vale a “welcome enhancement” to the area, praising the award-winning developer on a recent tour of the site.
The site – formerly part of Catmose College – has been transformed by the Peterborough-based housebuilder with a high-quality housing scheme of 125 homes. The development helped to fund the building of the Vale of Catmose College School, completed in spring 2011.
The majority of the 125 homes have now sold, with the development proving extremely popular locally. The site is due to be completed in March 2014.
Mr Duncan – the Minister of State for International Development – was given a tour of the site by Linden Homes’ Technical Director Barry Maynard. During the visit, Mr Duncan and Mr Maynard discussed the development of the site, including the construction of the new school – built by Linden Homes’ parent company Galliford Try – and the benefits of having construction and housebuilding businesses under one company. The two also discussed specific challenges facing the industry at present.
Following the visit, Mr Duncan said: “This is a welcome enhancement to the area, and suits its location very well. Linden Homes has done an excellent job, and the project has been an essential component in the development of the Catmose Campus.”
Mr Maynard added: “We are proud of this development and the associated school that was part-funded by it. It was a welcomed opportunity to chat to Mr Duncan about the development and the Linden Homes way of building high quality schemes and indeed communities.”
