Linden Homes’ sales team decided against the usual secret santa staff present and instead donated much-needed items this Christmas to Exeter-based homeless charity, St Petrock’s.
The charity supports people who are homeless or vulnerably housed by providing housing, advice and equipment to help fill the gaps in services available to individuals in need.
Emma Smith, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes, said: “One of the team suggested this year we donate items to St Petrock’s rather than buy our usual secret santa gifts. It’s an amazing idea and we’re delighted to be donating equipment from the charity’s much-needed list like sleeping bags, rucksacks and torches. It’s heart-breaking to think of people sleeping rough and we’re pleased to be making this gesture in a year which has shown us that our circumstances can change suddenly, and you never know when you may need some extra support.”
Lucy Patrick from St Petrock’s, commented: “We are very appreciative of donations from our wish-list as we simply couldn’t operate without significant support from the local community. Whether people are raising awareness, money or donating equipment, every bit of help is gratefully received.
“The items most in need include: rucksacks, trainers, sleeping bags, waterproof trousers, camping roll mats and specific items of clothing, as well as other useful items such as ear phones, beanie hats, waterproof gloves and washable face masks. If you are able to help or make a monetary donation please do find out more at www.stpetrocks.org.uk and get in touch as 94 per cent of donations are spent directly on those in need.”
Linden Homes is creating Sandrock and Tithe Barn locally, near Pinhoe and Sowton in Exeter.
