Life has almost come full circle for the Waters family in Swanland, as an association with the East Riding village spanning over six decades now enters an exciting new chapter.
Having lived and worked in the village all his life, John Waters and his wife Shirley - owners of the very successful Swanland Nursery – have swapped the flora and fauna for bricks and mortar, to become Linden Homes North’s newest customers.
John took over the nursery business, started by his parents in 1949, some years ago – turning it into one of the most successful independent garden centres in the area.
The couple recently closed the business and sold the four-acres of land to the Hessle-based developer as part of its plans for new housing.
As part of the process, John and Shirley were recently invited by Linden Homes to be their special guests on the site of what will house a number of stunning four and five-bedroom properties – and to dig the first foundations.
The couple are among a number of savvy customers to already buy off plan at the exclusive Swanland Gardens development, reserving a new home for themselves and also one for their daughter.
John said: “I was born in my parents house on this very site, and have been proud to take on the family business – which saw the nursery win a number of Gold medals at RHS Chelsea Flower Show over the years.
“This latest opportunity marks a new chapter in our lives and our association with Swanland, which I believe is one of the best, most beautiful and friendliest villages in the East Riding of Yorkshire.”
John and Shirley are due to move into their brand new home next summer, and more details about the development and how to reserve are available from the website.
