Research published last month concluded that, of all activities available in this day and age, the simple activity of walking is the best exercise for keeping you healthy.
The study, carried out by The London School of Economics, found the positive effects of brisk walking were especially pronounced in the over fifties. It also revealed that digging and chopping wood had a similar effect.
So for a healthy lifestyle it seems you should aim for an outdoor existence, with plenty of gardening and lots of walking.
Living somewhere in the country surrounded by great walks would certainly support such an idyllic lifestyle… which is why, if you’re looking for a new home, you might want to come and have a look around The Old Orchard, Linden Homes’ new development in the Dorset village of Charlton Marshall near Blandford Forum.
As part of a new lifestyle, you might be considering downsizing or looking for a simpler, less cluttered life, in a beautiful new house with lower energy bills, better security and a builder’s guarantee, in which case The Old Orchard would be ideal.
Tina Chalk, marketing manager at Linden Homes South commented: “The Old Orchard is in the heart of the village flanked by the rolling chalk hills and grasslands of Cranborne Chase – one of the UK’s most striking areas of outstanding natural beauty. The village has a pretty 18th century church, a popular pub and it also boasts some wonderful walks along the North Dorset Trailway, which is site of the former Somerset and Dorset Railway. The market town of Blandford Forum is just two miles away while the seaside and wonderful Jurassic coastline is also within easy reach.”
The Old Orchard consists of three bedroom detached bungalows, a two bedroom apartment and a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes.
