An Idyllic, New Hampshire Village Home
11 Dec 2013

Just off the A303, a few miles north of the beautiful city of Winchester is the quiet little Hampshire village of Sutton Scotney. Opportunities to buy new homes in lovely rural, village locations like this are rare, but Linden Homes will be creating just fifteen sensitively designed new homes here at their Taylor’s Grange development.

Each home has been designed with the village and its history in mind. The individual and characterful cottage-style homes should effectively blend in with the existing architecture of Sutton Scotney.

Amongst the fifteen new homes there will be a choice of 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes: They are being built now and will be launched for sale in spring of next year.

Linden Homes Southern marketing manager, Tina Chalk says a lot of thought has gone into the design and look of these homes:

“It is essential in a traditional village like Sutton Scotney that new additions blend in with the existing properties. We think our designs at Taylor’s Grange should do this very effectively. Some of the homes will have exposed brick, others have painted brick and the styles are simple and traditional. While we expect our new homes to merge with their older neighbours, they will stand out in one respect: Their energy efficiency.

“While an older property might have lots of character – it may also throw up lots of problems, not least the problem of how to efficiently heat it. Current building regulations mean new homes are six times more energy efficient than existing homes and produce over 60 per cent less CO2 emissions than older properties. Translated into cash, this means homeowners can enjoy savings of more than £500 each year on their energy bills – a significant saving given the skyrocketing cost of utilities.”

Not only is the Sutton Scotney location idyllic, it is also convenient. The A34, the A303 and the M3 are all within easy reach. Micheldever train station nearby offers services into London Waterloo and there are regular buses through the village.

The village also has a pub – The Coach and Horses – and a lovely, well stocked village shop (Dever Stores and Post Office).
