World Cup Fund Raising Kicks Off With Linden Homes Dress Down Day
26 Jun 2014

Forget the carnival colours and atmosphere of Brazil – Linden Homes Midlands fundraisers have been staging their own World Cup Mardi Gras!

Staff at the Peterborough based developer staged a dress down day with a difference to celebrate the World Cup and England’s journey through the group stages.

Those who opted to ditch the work wear in favour of a football shirt or even the whole kit, gave a donation towards the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall hospice appeal.

In addition, team shirts from the majority of countries taking part in the tournament were auctioned off prior to England’s match with Costa Rica on Tuesday.

The event, which culminated in the company supplying after work refreshments and the chance for staff to watch the game, raised an estimated £400.

Linden Homes Midlands finance director and footy fan Fraser Hopes said: “What better occasion than the World Cup to bring staff together with a bit of fun that also helps an extremely worthwhile cause.”

Nilesh Patel, regional fundraiser at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough – where work on a £6 million new hospice is due to start in September – said: “On behalf of everyone involved with Thorpe Hall and the appeal, a huge thanks to Linden Homes for their continued support.”
