Three Decade Long Career In The Construction Industry To Be Celebrated
02 Oct 2018

Being part of the solution that is helping meet the current need for housing is one of the reasons why Maxine Dudley’s passion for the construction industry has continued to grow and evolve during her three-decade long career.

As Linden Homes South West’s head of technical, Maxine brings a different set of skills and perspective to day to day challenges faced across the business and puts that down to her gender, as well as her experience. Problem solving, communication, attention to detail and organisation are some areas that she feels she is able to bring a different perspective and way of working.

Maxine says that whilst there are more women joining housebuilding there is still an opportunity to showcase the industry to those who may not have considered it as a career. She said: “New challenges and delivery of solutions continue to inspire me, even after 32 years in the industry, it’s an ever changing and fast-paced environment.”

Maxine’s passion for the sector evolved after starting work with an architecture firm. She then achieved an HNC in building studies at Derby College and had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of consultants including architects, interior designers and historic building and restoration companies, along with organisations such as Manchester University, where she worked as an architectural technician.

Heading up the technical team at Linden Homes keeps Maxine and her team busy. She said: “No day is the same which continues to make the role exciting. We just never know what the day will bring or what challenges we will need to overcome. Ultimately, I am proud to be working for a PLC housebuilder that is committed to being a big part of helping address the housing crisis and our priority is delivering quality homes and build lasting communities.

“I have really enjoyed all of my working career and if we can help inspire other women into the sector then that’s fantastic. It really is a career for all.”
