Local housebuilder donates Christmas gifts to Wokingham-based children’s charity
In true Christmas spirit Linden Homes’ Chiltern Division has donated an array of gifts to the Wokingham-based Building for the Future charity. The parent led charity provides activities, support and therapy for children with disabilities and/ or additional needs and their families. Linden Homes wanted to put a smile on the faces of the children and their families that will be using the facilities over the festive period with a selection of new toys, games and art supplies.
The housebuilder dropped off the goodies to the charity earlier this week, after it called out to staff across the region and the local community to come forward with a range of offerings.
Hannah Tyler who organised the present collection at Linden Homes, said: “Christmas should be an exciting time for children and families, so we asked our colleagues and the local community to dig deep and help spread some extra festive cheer to those who would really benefit from some extra Christmas treats! Their generosity and kindness will certainly go a long way.”
The charity’s home is ‘Our House’, a centre in the heart of the Wokingham community providing facilities, therapies and support for families with disabled children. The space is also available for booking from groups who need safe, accessible facilities.
Jane Holmes, CEO of Building for the Future, said of the donation from Linden Homes: “We are so grateful to Linden Homes Chiltern for providing these fantastic toys for our community centre for disabled children. As a parent-run charity we know only too well how important exciting new toys are for the children we support. Linden Homes’ generosity will enable us to provide a fresh environment for them as we go into 2019. Thank you so much!”.
Building for the Future was one of two charities the team had nominated this year for their Christmas present appeal. The second was Post Pals, a small charity run by volunteers who are dedicated to making seriously ill children and their siblings smile by sending cards, letters and small gifts to children between the ages of three and seventeen. The team arranged for a selection of gifts for specific children, who are being supported by the charity, which will be posted direct to them in time for Christmas delivery.
