Safe As Houses- Linden Homes' Site Manager Wins Pride In The Job Award
06 Jul 2016

The site manager at Linden Homes Midlands’ Saxon Gardens development in Huntingdon has been honoured for his professionalism with a national Pride in the Job Quality Award.

For the third year running, Kevin Bishop from Peterborough was recognised by judges on the National House Building Council’s programme for his leadership, technical expertise, robust health and safety management.

Pride in the Job is one of house building’s most prestigious awards, and for the last 35 years it has been run to strengthen standards in the industry.

Kevin, along with two other LHM site managers, was selected from over 16,000 entrants from around the country for a Quality Award and will now join the shortlist for best in the East region and the Seal of Excellence.

These will be presented to the UK’s top 130 site managers out of the 450 Quality Award winners.

Kevin, who has overseen the successful sell-out Huntingdon development, said: “Winning this award for the third consecutive year means an incredible amount to me, but it’s been a team effort to maintain such high standards. Without everyone’s commitment we couldn’t achieve a really well run and highly successful sell-out development or deliver top quality homes on what has been a really successful development.

“What’s particularly encouraging about this award is that it highlights the determination we have at every step of the way to deliver homes that our customers enjoy living in. It’s really good to have that publicly recognised by the industry.”

Site managers Gerard Barnes, from the Portfolio development in Bedfordshire and Ian King from Cygnet Place in Lincolnshire are also through to the next stage of the competition.

Linden Homes Midlands’ managing director Mike Coker said: “Competition for the NHBC awards is fierce. I am delighted that Kevin, Gerard and Ian - and their teams - have been recognised by the NHBC for the high quality of their work. Good luck to the them all in the next stage of the awards.”

“As a region we have picked up three of the six Pride in the Job awards issued to the Linden Group so a truly fantastic result for the whole of Linden Homes Midlands.”

He added: “The Pride in the Job awards are there to spotlight the exceptional site managers and sites within a given region and reflect upon build quality, site presentation, management skills and overall finish. This is a great achievement for not only the three managers but all of the people associated with these developments.”

Richard Hartshorn, Regional Director for NHBC, the UK’s leading standards setter and warranty provider for new homes, said: “Congratulations to Kevin, who should be commended for building homes of an outstanding standard in the region.

“For 36 years, Pride in the Job Awards has played a pivotal role in NHBC’s work to raise standards across the industry through the celebration and sharing of best practice.

“Pride in the Job recognises site managers who produce the best quality new homes, built and finished to the highest possible standards. Most importantly, homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job award-winning home benefit from a high quality product.

“It’s no surprise that our data shows Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of customer satisfaction, as these homes are without doubt among the best the UK has to offer.

“On behalf of everyone at NHBC, I would like to congratulate Kevin on this fantastic achievement.”
