Outline planning permission has been granted for 95 new homes to be built on land which will extend the Ensleigh development near Bath.
Set in an elevated position in Lansdown, Ensleigh is an exclusive new development of executive homes, just minutes from Bath’s city centre. IM Group bought MOD Ensleigh and has worked closely with Linden Homes and Bloor Homes to regenerate this important development site, which was launched last year.
A second ten acre site at the rear of Ensleigh has received outline planning permission and will feature a new primary school for 210 pupils, plus a further 95 homes, 38 of which will be classed as affordable. IM Group has sold the land to Linden Homes and Bloor Homes and both developers have submitted a reserved matters appllication.
Chris Harris, managing director at Linden Homes Western, said: “We’re delighted to be creating more homes in this special location. The first phase has proved extremely popular as we’re able to provide generous-sized homes with good parking, close to the city centre. We are looking forward to progressing this fantastic scheme.”
Andrew Driscoll, senior land director at Bloor Homes South West, said: “It has been a pleasure working to bring forward this site for much-needed new housing and we are delighted to have acquired the land for the next phase of homes. Subject to approval, we hope to start work on site in the spring.”
This latest phase of homes will represent a seamless extension of the existing development, which has been carefully designed to blend in sympathetically with its surroundings and to reflect the architectural style and appearance of existing properties in the area.
Jonathan Dyke, strategic land director from IM Land, a division of IM Group, said: “We have built up an excellent working relationship with Linden Homes and Bloor Homes from first purchasing the site in 2013. They are delivering high quality private and affordable homes in a sensitive location within a World Heritage Site and adjacent to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”
