Local Housebuilder Donates To Oxford Youth Ice Hockey Club For Equipment And Coaching
20 Feb 2020

The Oxford Junior Stars Ice Hockey Club is celebrating a £1000 boost to its funds thanks to a sporting sponsorship from award winning house builder Linden Homes. Linden homes kindly donated the sum to the Club for a rink board which will be up for 12 months and towards equipment & coaching.

Building on its community links with the area and supporting grass roots sport, Linden Homes Thames Valley was delighted to back the Oxford Junior Stars. Based at The Oxford Ice Rink, it is a development club run by volunteers with five age groups playing in the U9, U11, U13, U15 and U18 Southern Leagues.

Sheetal Smith, Head of Sales at Linden Homes’ Thames Valley said: “The club does a huge amount to encourage boys and girls of all ages and all abilities to get involved with grass roots ice hockey through their Learn to Play Programme. With a number of developments in Oxfordshire, like Hawkswood in Bicester, we will be seeing many new families make their home in the area, some of whom we hope will benefit from the enjoyment and spirit of grass roots ice hockey on their doorstep.”

Paul Lynch said: “We would like to thank Linden Homes very much for the donation, which really helps local clubs like ours prosper in the community.

“The club is run by a team of dedicated volunteers like me, who give our time and enjoy supporting and helping the youngsters to develop their confidence and enjoy themselves on and off the ice rink. We would welcome families who have just moved to a nearby Linden Homes development who want to get involved. The Learn to Play Programme is a great way for young aspiring ice hockey players to get started. Some previous Junior Stars are now playing for the senior club The Oxford City Stars. There are also plenty of volunteering roles for parents.”

The Oxford Junior Stars Ice Hockey Club is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers with the primary intention of letting the children have fun on the ice whilst learning how to play a fast and exciting sport. Through age group progression, the kids learn the skills needed to be an ice hockey player as well as valuable lessons about teamwork, persistence and self-confidence. The club welcomes new members aged five to 17, both boys and girls of all abilities.

Linden Homes’ Hawkswood development offers a selection of beautiful two, three, four and five-bedroom homes for sale in Bicester, the latest addition to the exciting new community of Kingsmere.
