Linden Wates Defeated By Grasshoppers

The Linden Homes Southern Dragon Boat Team (in association with Wates Developments) brought glory on the company when it came second in the Chichester Dragon Boat extravaganza.

The hardy ‘Linden Wates’ squad joined seven other hopeful teams when they congregated in the Canal Basin – the site of Linden Homes’ Reflection development (which offered an elegant backdrop to the antics on the canal).

Despite the rotten weather, the colourful race went ahead and team Linden Wates managed an extremely respectable second place.

They were beaten by a team of school boys from Chichester High School Rugby team – but in fairness the winning team – known as the Grasshoppers – had, from the start, been considered such fearsome opposition that the decision was made before the race to promote them from the youth category into the adult event.

The race, organised by the Rotary Club of Chichester, was organised to raise funds for both the Rotary Club and a local Chichester charity CancerWise.

Team Linden Wates joined the formidable Grasshoppers to receive their medals at the end of this colourful and hard fought race.
