Linden Homes Manager Among Uk's Brightest Young Property Talent
12 May 2014

Linden Homes is proud to announce that one of its land managers has been included by the Royal Town Planning Institute on its shortlist of the brightest young property talent in the country.

Jennifer Winyard is one of just four who are in the running for the title of Young Planner of the Year 2014 which spotlights the most impressive planners in the early stages of their career.

Jennifer is strategic land and planning manager for Linden Homes with responsibility for the North of England. She is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) with an MSc in Town and Country Planning.

She lives in Leeds and is actively involved in the local property sector as chair of the Yorkshire and North East branch of Women in Property, as well as vice-chair of the RTPI Yorkshire Regional Activities Committee and a member of its Regional Management Board.

Jennifer, who will face an interview as part of the competition, said: “I am tremendously proud and honoured in being considered for this award. Town planning plays an essential part in developing homes and communities fit for the 21st century.

“If successful, I will do my best to promote planning and encourage young people to help design and plan quality places for future generations to enjoy.”

Linden Homes divisional managing director, Tom Nicholson, said: “Jennifer’s inclusion on the shortlist is testament to her efforts, expertise and ambition – we wish her the best of luck. Her qualities are exactly what we pride ourselves on at Linden Homes.”

Eligibility for Young Planner of the Year is limited to planners who are within the first 10 years of post-qualification experience and are a current member of RTPI.

Chair of the judging panel is Steve Quartermain, chief planner at the Department of Communities and Local Government. He said: “As chair of the panel of judges I am delighted we have a strong shortlist of candidates for this years’ Young Planner of the Year – drawn from a very competitive longlist.

“It is an excellent opportunity for young planners to showcase their abilities and demonstrate that they can be the leaders in planning tomorrow.”

The winner will be announced at the RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence at a ceremony on Monday 23rd June 2014 at the Pullman London St Pancras. They will receive a free place at the RTPI Planning Convention and will have the opportunity to speak at the annual RTPI Young Planners' Conference in Bristol in October.
