Donors from across Yorkshire have responded generously to Linden Homes’ appeal to collect hundreds of sports kits for disadvantaged young people in the UK and Africa.
The Housebuilder of the Year, which it’s regional head office in Hessle, has teamed up with charity Kits 4 Causes in its Kit Up, Kit Out summer campaign.
Dozens of donations were made by individuals and local sports teams at each of the 90 collection points that were set up at Linden Homes’ developments across the country.
Kits 4 Causes will now distribute the clothing to community groups in the UK, designed to help tackle social issues, such as reducing truancy through social inclusion. Others will be sent to countries in Africa to help with projects which use sport to bring communities in conflict together.
Linden Homes sales director Steve Woomble said: “The response to our calls for help from local people has been fantastic. The community really embraced the campaign and I’d like to thank them all for taking the time to dig out their old sports kits for such a worthwhile cause.
“As a leading national business with local developments across North East Lincolnshire, East Riding and West Yorkshire, we’re excited about helping such an inspirational organisation which shares the same philosophy of neighbourhood engagement that we are so passionate about ourselves.”
Linden Homes ran a prize draw for clothing donors taking part in the shirt amnesty to win a brand new sports shirt of their choice. Teams who donated have been entered into a national prize draw to win £1,000 towards new sporting equipment and the winners will be contacted directly.
