House building staff's £17,000 cash boost for children's charity

Following a year of intense fund-raising, staff at Linden Homes have hung up their aprons, their running shoes and even their parachutes after boosting charity coffers by an amazing £17,200.

Staff from across all departments of Linden Homes Midlands have taken part in a 12 month-long programme of activities to raise money for the Little Miracles – both of which have their head offices in Peterborough.

From staff tuck shops, dress down days and bake offs to a Golf Day, Race Night, taking part in the Great Eastern Run and even braving a skydive, the input from staff, their friends and families have been overwhelming, said technical director Gary Martin.

He said: “We chose Little Miracles as our company charity of the year last June – and staff have really thrown themselves – and their donations – behind a wonderful local cause.”

Little Miracles supports thousands of children and families locally who have additional needs – providing everything from daily play schemes, a sensory room and information about disabled services to a range of professional counselling services – all from their purpose-built centre in the city.

It’s founder Michelle King – who was presented with the cheque by Linden Homes – added: “We can’t thank everyone who took part in, or supported one of a huge list of events during the year enough for this wonderful donation.

“This outstanding amount of money means such a lot to the charity, with so many local families be able to benefit from this. The money is being been used to pay for families to access holidays at our adapted caravan in Kellingheath and also for bereavement therapies for families.”
