Creative Students Build On Hull's Art-Loving Reputation - Thanks To Linden Homes
12 Jun 2015

As Hull continues to buzz from the announcement that it will host the Turner Prize during its City of Culture year - creative students in Hessle have staged their own art and design celebrations.

The city will host one of the biggest events in British art in 2017.

However, in the meantime, talented Hessle High School students have again been showcasing their work to the business community - thanks to support from local companies, including Linden Homes North.

The Hessle-based house builder has once again supported the annual display of art and design work by around 100 pupils, studying for qualifications in GCSE and Btec art and A-level textiles, photography and product design.

The work was displayed at a recent Art for Art’s Sake exhibition at Country Park Hessle.

Linden Homes North sales manager Julie Hubbard, who attended the event, said: “We are delighted and proud once again to support this initiative which provides a wonderful showcase for the very talented art and design students we have in Hessle – and great prequel to some of the amazing art which will undoubtedly be vying for praise during the Turner Prize.

“The work on display during the evening was of an incredibly high standard, and it was a real treat to be able to share in the success of these students who we hope will go on to bigger and better things.”

Sue Walker, technician from the art and design department at the school, said: “We were very grateful to Linden Homes North, who have a well-known and respected presence in Hessle, for their generous support once again.”

The Turner Prize – a contemporary art award and corresponding exhibition – will be staged at the city’s Ferens Art Gallery and is the first event to be announced for Hull’s City of Culture year.

Meanwhile, home hunters now have the chance to register their interest in another coming soon development, this time in the heart of Hessle.
The Woodland Croft development will comprise a selection of 140 new homes in two, three and four-bedroom styles.
