Linden Homes has completed construction work on homes at its Pembroke Gardens location in Alderbury.
The company has built 50 new properties on the former home of Alderbury Football Club, which has moved to a neighbouring site. The development includes 39 private homes and 11 affordable homes for local people available through low-cost rent or shared ownership.
With the build complete, the housebuilder is now landscaping the development’s new public open space, which will feature an area of grassland, a wildflower meadow and a children’s play trail.
Melanie Richards, sales director for Linden Homes, said: “It is a hugely significant milestone to witness the end of construction work at Pembroke Gardens, where the site team has excelled and delivered a wonderful new collection of top-quality homes in just two years.
“Now that the construction programme has reached an end, we can focus on delivering the public open space, which we anticipate will be completed by the end of May. This area will help protect local wildlife habitats and provide a fantastic natural facility for residents. The addition of a play trail for children will offer a healthy option for families looking to enjoy time outdoors.
“The feedback we have received from residents here is that they are very much looking forward to having this green space for the summer. They also appreciate the measures being taken to support local wildlife. One couple were so enamoured by our provision of hedgehog highways – which are holes cut in the bottom of fences to allow the animals to wander freely – that they have named their home Hedgehog House.”
Alongside the new houses, Linden Homes has also provided a new brick-built building for neighbouring Alderbury and West Grimstead Pre-school and a new hut for the 1st Alderbury Guides.
Melanie said: “It has been lovely to watch as a new community has taken shape here at Pembroke Gardens and we are set to welcome the final five residents onto the site by the end of April. We have had people from Alderbury moving here from an older home to an energy-efficient new build, as well as purchasers from the Salisbury area and even a buyer from New Zealand.
“The rural setting of Pembroke Gardens has been extremely popular with buyers right from the start. People also love the fact that this enclosed development is limited to just 50 new homes and has a genuine old village feel.
“Although all of the new homes at Pembroke Gardens have been sold, we are committed to delivering new homes across Wiltshire and Hampshire. There are properties available at Boorley Park in Botley, where Linden Homes is building a collection of two, three and four-bedroom new homes.”
