Cancer Hospital Gets Welcome Boost From Linden Homes
24 Feb 2016

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity has received a welcome donation this month, thanks to Guildford-based housebuilder, Linden Homes.

Further to being selected as the company’s charity of the year, the specialist cancer hospital in Sutton was presented with a cheque from Linden Homes for over £2,300.

The monies were raised through a host of fundraising efforts carried out by the reputable housebuilder including a special auction, a raffle, and proceeds from a charity tuck shop. Prizes for the raffle and auction were generously donated by Linden Homes’ sub-contractors and suppliers, and included West End theatre tickets, and an overnight stay at Champneys Spa.

A further £50 donation was also donated to the cause from one of Linden Homes’ estate agent partners, Roger Coupe based in Cranleigh.

Chris Lary, senior buyer and Paul Gerry, commercial manager at Linden Homes were there to present the contribution to Amanda Heaton, Head of Community and Corporate Fundraising at The Royal Marsden.

Amanda commented: “This is the second year running that Linden Homes has helped us and we really appreciate the time and effort the team has invested to raise these funds. The company’s generosity really does make a difference and these donations will go towards helping us build a future beyond cancer.”

Susan Whiting, marketing manager at Linden Homes South commented: “Our team voted for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity as their chosen charity last year and really got behind the various events we held in honour of the hospital’s name. We are delighted to have raised a decent amount of money for the cancer centre which helps so many people across the country. It’s just one way we are looking to give a bit back to the community this year.”

Every year The Royal Marsden provides treatment and care for more than 50,000 cancer patients and is at the forefront of cancer research. It has two hospitals: one in Sutton, Surrey, and another in Chelsea, London. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity funds pioneering work in cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and care to improve the lives of patients at The Royal Marsden and people with cancer throughout the UK and beyond.
