Requiring just a five per cent deposit, NewBuy is a government-backed scheme aimed at bridging the gap for people who have previously been unable to buy their first home or move house.
Already a popular scheme among Linden Homes buyers, New Buy is currently available at the St Michael’s Chase development in Longstanton, Cambridgeshire – where a range of apartments and homes, ideal for those stepping onto the housing ladder, are for sale.
Among those to benefit from the scheme are first time buyers, teacher Katie Korniotis and plumber Austen Diaper.
The couple used the NewBuy scheme to purchase a brand new three-storey home at the development.
Both were living with their parents in the local area whilst saving for a deposit on their first home together, and were told about the incentive by a friend who was already living at St Michael’s Chase.
Katie said: “The scheme sounded fantastic, and raising a small deposit meant that a new home became an instant reality for us. Linden Homes explained all the finer details to us and were also able to assist us in arranging our mortgage, which meant the whole process was completely hassle and stress-free.
“We had looked at buying an older property, but the amount we were able to borrow was significantly lower than that offered by the NewBuy scheme. Coupled with the fact that an older property would need work, we decided that a new build would be a much better option for us.
“It took just 28 days from reserving our home to moving in – and we are delighted with it.”
